The Hello Starling team attended The Celtic Manor in Newport last Friday night to celebrate great local businesses at the Monmouthshire Business Awards.

Referred to as the “Welsh Business Oscars” the MBA’s are the county’s premier award scheme and showcase cross-industry excellence. The MBA’s award excellence across categories that consider achievements in areas such as innovation and sustained growth and are awarded to all sizes of business from start-ups, to SME’s and larger companies.

A great night was had by all this year and of course it wouldn’t be the “Welsh Business Oscars” if it didn’t offer the opportunity to get glammed up – something that we excel at here at Hello Starling.

Aside from looking fabulous, eating delicious food and drinking moderate amounts of wine, we also had the privilege of both sponsoring and judging the awards. We were impressed with the calibre of contestants that we had to choose from, and were delighted to present the excellence in marketing award to That Media Group – a design, print, marketing and web consultancy based in Chepstow.  We were particularly impressed with the creativity in That Media Group’s marketing activity, the clear aims and objectives and consequent demonstrable results that That Media Group displayed.

Hello Starling at the Monmouthshire Businesses Awards

James presenting the award for “Excellence in Marketing”

Hosted by Director of the Monmouthshire Business Awards Janet Harris and Guest Award Presenter Hywel James the awards were a great success all round. As Janet Harris pointed out since the beginning of the MBA awards in 2012 the attendance for the MBA’s had more than tripled by 2015 from just over 100 to almost 400 guests.

Having been involved in the awards for the past two years running, we are very proud to have had some small part to play in the success of both the awards and in rewarding local businesses with the recognition they deserve (which is what it is of course all about!).

We were therefore very humbled and grateful to receive a special mention from Janet on the night explaining her gratitude for all our help in making the awards happen. Janet thanked us for all our hard work in designing a programme and promoting the awards via a series of e-shots, as well as judging and sponsoring on the night.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Janet and the Monmouthshire Business Awards for having us as judges and sponsors again this year and look forward to many more successful years to come.
